[foogallery id="18100"] A day in the life of a valuer…..when you need a drink. This week my task as an expert valuer was to complete a series of valuations on brewery and bottling assets. Jobs like this are always interesting as there were similar assets doing completely different jobs. There was a mineral water plant, which simply takes water from a spring, makes sure it is good quality, and then bottles it. The brewery uses the same pristine water and with century old methods brews beer and then bottles it! As an expert valuer it was well within my scope to test and sample the product, which I did with the water. As a responsible expert valuer, I waited until I got home to sample a beer.  Not being an expert in that area, I had to sample a few! #expertvaluer #valuer #expertmachineryvaluer #expertwitnessvaluer #machineryvaluer #beer #mineralwater #bottlingplant...

A day in the life of a valuer…..when things are worth so much! This week as an expert valuer I had the opportunity to do something that is invaluable, and further, what I value the most. My youngest daughter is a bit of a chip off the old block and made her school athletics representative team (sadly I am no longer the Athlete I once was!) I took the time to go out and watch her run her race, and do the very best she can….which she did! She ran a personal best.  Proud Dad moment!  These opportunities are fleeting and must be grabbed whenever present, as very soon they will be memories, albeit likely caught on a smart phone. After that I put my expert valuer hat on and completed some asset inspections conveniently located nearby.  These machines were underground shotcreters being used in the network of tunnels being built under Sydney. #expertvaluer #valuer #expertmachineryvaluer #expertwitnessvaluer #machineryvaluer #wenona #sportscarnival #ipsha #athletics...

Another day in the life of a valuer………when the value changes! This week as an expert valuer I had the fortunate project to value a beautiful harbour cruising boat.  Some time ago I was engaged to value this vessel and she was having some “work” done.  At the time I had to advise the client that in her current condition she was not good security, as we could not fully estimate the costs involved in finishing the “work.” Now the work has been completed and she looks great, and is ready for charter, and presents as a far better asset for security purposes, and as the expert valuer, I increased my values ascribed to reflect the current condition. Now if only I could have done it on a sunny afternoon with a glass of bubbles…..! #expertvaluer #expertmarinevaluer #valuer #expertplantvaluer #expertwitnessvaluer #plantvaluer #expertequipmentvaluer #plantandequipmentvaluer #motoryacht [foogallery id="17832"]...

[foogallery id="17762"] Another day in the life of a valuer……..when you just have to have a look? The life of an expert valuer never stops, even when recently on vacation! Before going away, I recently valued some rebar assets and in simple terms these machines straighten/bend/form steel bars used to reinforce concrete. These machines are big, expensive and mostly made in Europe. Being in Asia I saw how this used to be done, using manual labour at about $2 per hour, and with none of the productivity of the automatic machines your expert valuer encountered when working. As an expert valuer, I know there is no market for this equipment in Australia. #expertvaluer #plantandmachineryvaluer #expertplantvaluer #expertwitnessvaluer #plantvaluer #expertequipmentvaluer #plantandequipmentvaluer...

[foogallery id="17451"] Another Day in the Life of a Valuer…….A Sleek Tin Lizzie! This week as an expert plant and equipment valuer had me looking at a Tin Lizzie, an old and not so virtuous nickname for the Ford Model T automobile, which is the car that changed the entire industry.  The Ford Motor Co developed the production assembly line still used today. This car has been slightly modified since she came off the production line in 1923, but she does come in the original colour, as Henry Ford famously said, you can have any colour you want, as long as it is black! As the expert valuer I had to determine what she is worth today, and that is considerably more than she was when new.  In 1923 she would have set you back $364, the equivalent of $5353 today. #expertvaluer #plantandmachineryvaluer #expertplantvaluer #expertwitnessvaluer #plantvaluer #expertequipmentvaluer #plantandequipmentvaluer #modelT #roadster #ford...

Another day in the life of a valuer……this time adding value! Last week I had the pleasure of being the auctioneer for the second Wenona School Sports lunch. Run by the Wenona Foundation the event aim is to provide means-tested scholarships which will enable less privileged girls to attend this highly regarded school. From the guest speakers, there were some wonderful insights into being a sports professional and a mum delivered by a pregnant Aussie Women's Sevens Olympic Gold Medallist Emilee Cherry and Former Australian “Diamond” and mother of 2 Megan Anderson. These women demonstrated that you can achieve many things with focus and dedication. We had a hefty increase in our financial goal from #principalatwenona and thanks to the many generous donors and attendees (and maybe a few flies in the room!!) we got there.   [foogallery id="17361"] #wenona #wenonaschool  #wenonafoundation #philanthropy  #expertvaluer  #auctioneer...

Another Day in the life of a valuer………When is a boat considered a bus or a bus considered a boat? This week as an expert valuer I was fortunate to complete a valuation on a LARC (acronym for Lighter Amphibious Resupply Cargo) which originally started life as a military asset, and then spent some time in Antarctica, and is now remodelled as an amphibious tourist vessel. My job in this valuation was first to determine if it was a bus or a boat.  This duck is registered as both, so as far as I am concerned, it is both! As an expert valuer, the next thing I had to do was determine its value.  Quite a challenge for an asset that is older than me, and probably in better condition! An Aluminium hull/chassis, and a late model diesel engine, she has had some work done but is no old duck. As a plant and machinery valuer I have seen a lot of things, but this Duck is one of only seven globally! #expertvaluer #plantandmachineryvaluer #expertplantvaluer #expertwitnessvaluer #plantvaluer #expertequipmentvaluer #plantandequipmentvaluer [foogallery id="16145"]...
